My neighbor has an old stack unit from Maytag. Just recently it quit heating. I recently replaced the Gas hot water heater and turned off the main gas supply. It hasn't produced heat since. I know that she has hot water and the furnace is also working so it isn't a gas supply issue. In looking at posts on this forum, it does not appear that this dryer has a pilot light. Where do I start to figure out the problem?

Thanks for the help,

The first thing I would check is the gas supply to the unit.

There is a separate gas shut off valve behind the dryer and another shut off valve behind the access panel (#14 on the cabinet break down diagram).

With the access panel removed, start the dryer and see if the igniter glows.

If it does not, unplug the igniter and check for 120V coming to the igniter when the control calls for heat.

If there is 120V then check the igniter and the flame sensor (#9 on the heater assembly break down diagram) for continuity.

Replace the part with the open circuit.

If there is no 120V then the troubleshooting has to be done according to the wiring diagram which suppose to be on the inner side of the access panel or behind the washer front panel.

Unfortunately I'm not able to find the wiring diagram for this model on line.

- The part number for the igniter is AP3109449

- The part number for the flame sensor is AP2910747

Here are the break down diagrams for the Maytag laundry center Model LSG1000

Gene,

Thanks for the help
It turned out to be the gas shut off.
For whatever reason she had turned off the dryer shutoff valve when the HW heater died and forgot that she did that.

Sooo simple.

While I was there she mentioned that sometimes the washer wouldn't spin dry the clothes well. THANKS FOR ALL THE LINKS. I replaced the belts to the tub and the pump. With the dryer working again she has washed several loads of clothes and some still have not been well spun dried. If she repeats the cycle all is good. I didn't see any tensioning mechanism for the pump belt. SO... again I am at loss as to where to start

Thanks again for all your help

Keith

Hi Keith,

One of the most common cause for such problem is not balanced load.

When it happened the washer will never go on full speed during the spin cycle.
