I currently own an Amana electric self clean oven. It shouldn't be more then 10 years old. Part no is 35-31680501-0. Last night we stared the oven without any issues and turned the knob off after with no problems. This morning the knob was still off but a small portion of the coil was still getting electricity (it was still orange with heat). I'm not sure if there is a broken coil or what may need to be replaced. I am going to shut off and restart the breaker today but if that doesn't work I am wondering what options/solutions I have.
Please help me out
Thanks

Here are your parts Replacement parts for ARR6202 models | AppliancePartsPros.comHere is a tech sheet http://www.servicematters.com/m...brary/docs/T232_14R4.pdfThis morning the knob was still off but a small portion of the coil was still getting electricity (it was still orange with heat). Since it was not bright red it sounds like part of the coil is getting 120 volts. This can happen if the coil shorts out to one of the feet or mounts. It then gets power from the line and completes the circuit through the short to the frame. You could unplug the unit, remove the element and check it with a meter. Should be approximately 20 ohms. Then check from each side of the element to the mount and the feet all should be infinite ohms (open). Note it is a good idea to clip something (clothes pin etc.) onto the element wires so they do not disappear into the back of the unit. Another way to check is if lets say the element is orange from the mount to the left side foot. Unplug the unit and then place a nonconducting heat resistant material between the foot and the oven floor. Then plug it in and give it a try if the section does not heat up then the element needs replacing. A saucer may be used as long as you do not let it get too hot. |
