We replaced our heating element and when we restored power, the oven heated up without us turning on the oven and we could not control the temp. We unplugged ion fear of burning out the new heating element. Please give us advise. annie

Would that be expensive and how do we check for the control panel? We needc to decide to replace or attempt to repair on our own. The unit is 10 years old. Originally Posted by: denman

Control Panel is Item 2 in Section 2 $129.45
Safest way to check is: Unplug the unit Check the resistance of each side of the element to the frame. Both sides should be open (infinite ohms) If OK Undo one of the wires going to the element. Measure from that wire to L1 If your reading is not open (infinite ohms) then the bake element relay's contacts are welded together. |
