I checked the water supply down at the connection to the refrigerator/valve and is all clean. What should I check next, before ordering the whole new ice maker? Is there a disassembly manual or website with it? I know some parts are plastic snap-on,anddon't weant damage any of them...

banluc The first thing I would check is if the ice maker is "on" or "off". Check the position of the ice maker arm - it should be pushed down. If it's up then the ice maker is "off". If this is not the issue then check the coil on the water valve for continuity. The water valve is located on the back of the fridge. Also check the ice maker fill tube - it could be frozen up. If there is no continuity on the coil or the fill tube is frozen up - the water valve has to be replaced. The part number for the new water valve is AP2583509 If all of the above is fine then the ice maker has to be replaced. The part number for the new ice maker is AP3160597 Good luck. Gene.

I have GE side by side...model number TPS24PPBE BS...The unit is about 8 years old. I have removed both water valves and plan to replace them. I am confused as to why there are two separate water valves...I have a water dispenser in the door, and the ice maker as well as an inline filter. What do all these valves do? There were about 5 or 6 water lines leading into or from the two valves.
This evening (after removing the two valves this am) I noticed some water leakage around the bottom of the front door on the freezer side. Also, items in the freezer appeared to be thawing though freezer is cold and appeared to be working properly? I have not replaced the two valve assemblies yet as I obtained one locally but the other will not be available until Thursday. So, I planned to wait and install both at the same time.
Help.
