Dryer was working this weekend with a humming noise. The dryer started on the last load, ran for approximately a minute or two, and then there was a pop. The motor was running but the drum was not turning. Is this a dryer belt problem? Will the belt kit fix the problem? Should I do any other maintenance when I replace the belt on the drum?

I will look at the belt this evening. I did turn on the dryer to see if it was making the same noise.
This time, the dryer made a clicking sound while the drum was turning. Any other ideas before I inspect the belt?
Thank you.

I would inspect all moving parts and the motor.

Gene, I replace the rollers, the idler pulley, and the drum belt as you suggested. Also, I clean out the lent from inside the dryer. Afterwards the dryer ran much smoother and seemed to be much tighter.
I found out what the loud noise was after the initial humming. It was a wrapping from a cleaning sheet that was stuck to the exhaust fan. It must have dropped into the exhaust system one time when the lint screen was removed for cleaning.
Thank you!!

if the belt is broken change belt, but make sure the motor runs without belt first.

You are welcome Doc. I'm glad you were able to fix it. It's a good idea to clean the lint at least every other year.
Gene.
