My maytag wanna be ( admiral manufactured) washer will not engage the tub . I can hear the motor running wide open ,but no spinning. Any suggestions?

The most common cause of your problem is the thrust bearing, this part kit here.

It is not a difficult repair, but take your time and try to get someone to help. Instructions should be included with the kit.
