I had the same problem with my Samsung side by side refrigerator. The freezer was working fine but the refrigerator was only at 60. I pulled the inside of the refrigerator apart and found that the insides had frozen up. I unplugged the refrigerator and defrosted the frozen areas with a hair dryer and reassembled the inside. It has been 3 months and I have not had any more issues. I assume that in a few years I may have to do the same thing again, but at least the problem is fixed with no additional expenses.

Hi, I'm experiencing the same symtoms with my Samsung side by side model RS2556SH.
Symptons: - My freezer is operating perfectly fine. - Refrigerator was not cool at all. - The fan is not circulating air in the refrigerator at all.
I'd proceeded to open up the refrigerator, the evap/heater assy was frozen over. I'd defrosted the entire fridge and then proceeded to conduct diagnostics. I'd tested the temperature sensor (yellow wire harness) and the resistance readings were per the Samsung service guide.
Then I'd tested the defrost heater (red and white harness) and the resistance measured 95 ohms.
Lastly, I'd tested the thermo-fuse and it read the same reading as my ohm-meter when I'd shorted it.
When I’d performed the self-diagnostic self check, I’d received a refrigerator fan error (segment 4 on the fridge temp section). Does this mean that I need to replace the fan motor?
Does anyone have any suggestion to conduct more diagnostics?
Mark

My story briefly, samsung rs257barb, 4 years old, had 2 service calls under warranty for the problem of not cooling on the fridge side which resulted in no change in the cooling. Samsung sent me a check for the cost of the fridge which was nice of them. But rather than buy a new one I would rather fix it myself.
Today, I pulled off the evaporator cover, the evap is not frozen up, had a little frost but not much. The motor runs and puts out air when I press the door switch, so I think I am good there. The digital display temp indicates 34, I have tried to adjust it colder via the programming -7 deg was the coldest I could adjust it down to, that seemed to help when I did that however the fridge only gets down to about 42 maybe 40 at best. Ironically the chill drawer works perfectly and stays at 30 deg, one time recently it froze a diet coke, but it isn't cold enough to freeze a fructose coke.
So I think my problem is the temperature sensors that tell the computer what temp the air is inside the fridge side.
Any ideas?

If Samsung gave up on your refrigerator (with in home service!), the best idea is to get rid of it. It's not worth it!

Well the first service guy replaced the lower thermistor and left without doing any diag or testing. The second guy came looked didn't do any diag or anything. He said he would call Sammy and then call me back. But he never did call me back. After that no authorized service centers would send anyone out unless samsung prepaid. So really other then having 1 sensor replaced on a whim by a tech it hasn't really been looked at.

In almost all cases the problem is the defroster. Unfortunately is is integrated with the evaporator on Samsungs. It is all one piece. You have to order the new piece and decouple the defrost (thermal fuse) from the new evaporator and old evaporator and switch them out (if you replace the whole thing then you start messing with the freon and the sealed system--bad idea.) It is a bit of a puzzle, but manageable. If you live in Southern California, I can help you out.

I was able to fix mine. I replaced the upper and lower thermistors and the thermal fuse. It has been working great for a few weeks now. I ordered the 3 parts from the appliancepartspros. Came very quickly. Didn't take but about 1/2 hour to replace all 3 parts. Now it is working perfectly. Thanks everyone.

sghokie, What were the colors of the two thermistors? I have read that there are two types. The white cased version and the black cased version.

Both where white. The lower one had a yellow wire while the top one had a blue wire. The thermal fuse was wrapped in a foam pad.
