I have a Whirlpool dryer. Dried 2 loads this morning and went to start another load and when I set the timer. You could hear it ticking but when I pushed the start button, it would click but not start. Do I need to replace the start button or something else?

Hi Dwaine, The first thing I would do is check for continuity the thermal fuse (#59 on the diagram). If this fuse is open, it has to be replaced together with the cycling thermostat (#42), and the vent line has to be cleaned. - The thermal fuse Part number: AP3133489

Hi Gene,
I have the same model dryer and just discovered that the drum spins but has no heat. I'm trying to check continuity of the thermal fuse, but I can't figure out how to remove the back of the dryer to get at it. Any suggestions?
TIA, Dan V.

Actually, now that I'm looking closer at it, I think the back panel is non-removable. Not sure at this point how to go about checking thermal fuse continuity.

You have to remove the toe panel (#61 on the diagram) and the lint screen housing (#45 on the diagram). The thermal fuse is shown as #59. Gene.

Gene,
Thanks for the reply. I've already determined that the fuse is not the issue. I tested that, the thermal cut off and high-limit thermostat and all checked out. The heating element was not testing well on my meter, so I pulled the canister and slid it out. It turns out the heating element has a broken wire. I ordered the new part from APP today.
As soon as it arrives, I'll install it and post back with the result.

You guys are awesome! My new element arrived this morning. Overnight, even though I paid for standard ground shipping. Took me about 10 minutes to install and now all is well!
Thanks again for being here!
Dan V.
