Ok....Here's my problem. We were having a hard time getting the washer to start once you put the lid down. I called a repairman and he looked at it and said that he had "fixed it", well it will now go into the rinse cyle, but, I can't get it to fill up with water. The water will not come on at all. I have checked the simple things such as ensuring that the water is on. I am clueless right now as to what the problem could be. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi donietta, The first thing I would do is check if 120V coming to the water inlet valve coils when the timer calls for water and the water temperature switch is set for warm water. If there is 120V and no water is coming into the washer - the water inlet valve has to be replaced. If there is no 120V and the wires to the water inlet valve are fine, let me know and we will proceed with the further diagnosis. - The part number for the water inlet valve is AP244856 Here are the break down diagrams for the Maytag washer Model A7400Gene.
