I had an issue with my dryer not heating and timer not advancing. I checked the continuity on all of the switches and thermostats and found the thermo reset bad. Reset it and got it heating up again but timer not advancing. Disassembled the timer and couldn't find and issue but motor would not run. Went ahead and replaced it thinking the motor was bad. Put it back in service but it is still not advancing. I can manually advance it and it shuts down at cycle end but not automatically. Is there something else that may be the problem? There is what appears to be a relay next to the timer and connected to it. Could this be the problem? How do I test it?

Check the resistor inline to the timer motor. I've seen them fail before. Yours may look different than the picture, but it still does the same job.

Thanks. On my timer there is a little square black relay looking item with two wires connected from it to the timer. I assume this is the resistor you speak about. How can I test it?

Are you talking about this part?

That's a end of cycle buzzer.

Big or small, resistors test the same way.
