My dryer wasn't heating or running properly so I checked the high temp cutoff it was open, So I replaced the high temp cut out and the operating thermostat. I got the heat back but the timer wouldn't advance in any mode (timed or autosense) I replaced the timer and still no advance, It heats and dries perfectly but no joy on the timer I checked voltage with the dryer running and got 236 volts across the timer terminals. Anyone ever run into this?

Since you get about 240 volts across the timer motor and it does not advance I would say that you have received a defective timer.

Also I would replace the hi-limit thermostat. It should have prevented the hi-limit cutoff from blowing.

Also I would check the heating coil to be sure that it is not grounded which is the most common cause of hi-limit thermostat and cutoff problems.
Unplug the unit and both wires from the heater.
Measure the heater, should be in the 8 to 12 ohm range.
Then measure from each side of the heater to it's case, both should be infinite ohms.
If not the heater is grounded and should be replaced
