Hi, refrigerator and freezer stopped cooling completely, is getting power ok. I just replaced the c-fan thinking that was the problem but no luck. I hear fan inside the fridge, every few minutes I hear a clicking noise from the side of the compressor after that the compressor turns on for 8 seconds then turns off, after while the compressor got real hot, c- fan doesn't turn on, any any suggestions on what the problem is.

That would be the over load switch kicking off. before I worked for Sears I worked for an independent repair place, I carried something like this to get my customers by. The problem is that your compressor is stressed by age, and engineering shortcuts. So look at this ( SUPCO Relay, Overload and Hard Start Capacitor - G1690053 at Zoro), you can probably find an appliance parts place near you that can explain how it goes on. Then you need to vacuum out the condenser. But you are headed for a either a compressor replacement or a new/er fridge

Never use a hard start device on any "newer" compressor, will eventually burn out the compressor. Best to use the original, specified start device.
