while running it makes a grining sound I opened the top and the belt is still on with good tension.

In order to provide the most accurate advise I need the complete model number of the dryer. You can find it on the door frame.

You have to remove the front panel, the bulkhead front panel and the drum and check all moving parts inside.
Post your findings.
