I am assisting some family/friends with appliance repair, but lack a smaller cordless screwdriver/drill for dryers/washer. I was stripping the Philips screws (very tight) with a hand screw-driver. Hitachi (3.6volt 40 inch pounds), DeWalt (8 volt, 80 inch pounds) & Bosch (12 volt, 80-inch pounds) make cordless screwdrivers ....Any suggestion on these tools or others. Thank you

Sorry no comment on the cordless drivers.
If you strip it with a hand driver you will also strip it with a cordless driver.

Use a pair of slip joint pliers or vice grips on the drive handle.
The push as hard as you can on the manle end to seat the driver tip into the screw and use the plers to turn the handle.

If the above does not work use a flat driver or better yet a small cold chisel to hit the screw head in the correct direction.
Often this will loosen a screw just a bit and then you can get it out.
