Dryer was working fine. Dried one load of clothes. Removed and placed second load in( dryer was cool, I'm one of those that let's them sit hoping they will fold themselves). Set my cycle then pushed the start button and nothing. Husband checked breaker, fine. Unplugged let it set for a few plugged back in and tried once more still nothing. What should we do next? Thanks!

Here are your parts Parts for Whirlpool WED5500SQ0 Dryer - AppliancePartsPros.comSee the attachment for your wiring diagram Try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times. Sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker. Check the voltage at the plug L1 to L2 should be 240 volts L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts. If OK Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out If OK Check the power at the terminal strip. Do this with the heater off and on. Be careful as 240 volts is lethal !!! If the unit has a drum light, does it work. If it does light then you know that you have power to drive the motor. Does the door switch turn the light off? A likely culprit is the thermal fuse (item 7 in the Bulkhead Parts section). Check it wih a meter. Be sure to unplug the unit when doing this. If it is blown be sure to check/clean your vent system as that is the most common cause of it blowing. |
