Hello
I'm pretty sure this question has been asked before but I can't find it exactly.
We have a Frigidaire Laundry Center GLEH1642FS0 and the dryer is making grinding noises. I am English so I'm not very familiar with US machines. I took the front off and the felts are worn, especially the top felt.
My question is:
Do I need just new felts; or do I need felts and glides? Or do I need a new rear bearing as well? With the front off I can move the drum up and down at the front, but there doesn't seem to be any movement of the drum as a whole, so maybe the bearing is OK. The machine is about 5 years old and gets fairly heavy use (at least one dry per day) because we have holiday rentals.
Thank you -- George

Hi. You have to determine if the glides are worn out and if the bottom felt seal needs to be replaced. Also if the top felt seal is worn out so bad that drum is riding on the metal that is where the grinding noise is coming. To determine the condition of the rear bearing take the drum out and visually check them. Most likely you should replace them too. Here are the breakdown diagrams and Upper Cabinet / Drum Heater parts for Frigidaire GLEH1642FS0 - AppliancePartsPros.comPost the results. Simon.
