I'm trying to replace the timer knob, which broke completely. The stem is still attached to the timer shaft, and I can't remove it. Through my research, I think I'm supposed to see some type of clip holding the stem, but I see none - maybe it broke off when the knob itself broke? Can someone tell me how to remove the old knob shaft so I can install the new button? Also, will a need a new clamp/clip? One didn't come with the new knob, and I didn't see one on the exploded diagram for the control panel.

Thanks in advance!

You need to get access to the back of the timer. In the center is a hole. Insert a small screwdriver in the hole and life up (do this gently) and this will release the timer knob.

I don't think you need a new clip as the one that holds the knob is in the timer itself.

I can't get anything to release. The hole you mention is the hole where I can see the timer stem, correct?

Right, you won't be able to see anything but inserting the small screw driver should be able to let you release the remains of the knob, unless somehow the force that broke the know somehow damaged things inside the timer.

The back of your timer should look like this.

Great, glad you got it removed. Those of us who reply on this Forum are volunteers and we do so in order to allow folks like yourself to avoid an expensive service call when you can do the job, so no thanks or kudos needed.

Good luck with your machine.
