When I select a cycle, but before starting it, I note that both the DRY and COOLING status indicators are lit. After starting the cycle the DRY indicator blinks and the COOLING indicator stays lit. I never hear the burner light. Dryer was last used yesterday when the wife noted the second load did not seem to dry correctly.

Does this indicate a specific fault, or should I just start down the testing path of flame sensor, igniter, high-limit switch etc?

Thanks,
PW

Hi.

It's sounds like the problem is with the control board.
Very unfortunately I can not be more specific due to the limited access to the manuals (LG brand sold By Sears).
Open the dryer and check if the manual is there. Or order one from Sears.
Run the test.

Simon.

Simon,
Finally had time to take it apart and test.

Findings:
Igniter: ~200 ohms
Thermostat and high-limit thermostat: ~20 ohms each
Gas valve coils: ~1900 ohms each

FLAME SENSOR: a big fat OPEN - infinite ohms

I noticed when I removed the flame sensor that it rattled.
I don't think it should rattle, but I've never shaken one before.

OK - off to order a flame sensor.

My wife is not happy that a relativey new dryer (about 18 months)
already needs to be repaired!!!
