yes, this is a york and i condensor fan runs at 1/2 speed (the HO said that it quit in the middle of the night~. when i got there he had it off for a while and when i turned it on it ran slow and compressor was not runnin originally thought it was a cap. being that it was a 40 uhf +- 5 so i changed that and still the same problem i have current going to the fan a comp.. jus any more info would be goos thanks..

If it is running half speed it could be poling out. Move the shaft and check for play in it. If it moves more than a frogs hair it is probably bad. Should have absolutely no lateral play at all. If it feels sloppy the bearing is gone.

yes, actually it was a bad capicator. there were no data plate and someone tried to run a 45 -+ 5 mf for the compressor and fan.
so changed that and put a 5 mf for the fan and it was fixed. dont know how long the fan will rum though since the other person wired it this way.

My fan quit on my outside unit not long ago and it was a swollen 5 mike cap.
I think these newer PCB free caps ain't as tough as the old school ones.
