The condensor fan is running slowly (5 to 10 revs per second). This is not enough air to keep the freezer below 28°F. The frige works fine ( 0°F freezer temp) with an external fan blowing on the condensor fan through the slots of with the back cover. Is it more likely that the motor or the control board is bad? should I place both parts to be sure? Is there a way to check the motor when removed by applying DC power? Thanks Harold mdl psc23shnabs

I did some more searching on the subject of my concern. I think I found the answer to my question. Check the condensor fan votages from the main control board; white to red is 12VDC, white to yellow is either 6.3V or 8-12 volts depending on the post I read. If not replace control board. Check the motor resistance. white to red is open, white to yellow is either 1.6k ohm to 1.8k ohm. if not replace motor. Can someone please confirm this for me? Thanks, Harold

Harold, If either of the fan motors (it is unclear to me which one did you mean) is malfunctioning then it has to be replaced together with the main control board. The condenser fan motor is next to the compressor on the back of the refrigerator while the evaporator fan motor is inside the freezer. You can find more useful information in one of our previous threads: http://forum.appliancepartspros...er-fan-3.html#post242231 - The condenser fan motor Part number: AP4265957
- The main control board Part number: AP4436216
There are two different evaporator fan motors can be used in this refrigerator. The difference is: one comes with a thermistor wired into the motor connecting harness and an other one comes without a such thermistor. You have to determine which one is needed before you order it. - The evaporator fan motor with thermistor Part number: AP3191003

My thanks to Gene and the rest of the forum! As you recommended I replaced the condensor fan and the control board. The fridge works great and the freezer and fridge temps are at their set points. Now I notice many periods of time when the compressor is not running. In the last 5+ years I dont think I ever noticed it not running. I only wish more problems in life could be solved so easily. Thanks Harold
