Refrigerator and Freezer quit cooling. Compressor makes clicking sound but is real hot. Fan on condenser turns real slow. Any suggestions as to what problem might be? Is condenser fan supposed to fun faster?

Hi. Cool down the compressor, remove the start devise and check continuity between the 3 compressor's pins (continuity between all three of them).Next check one of the pins to the ground - you should have no continuity. Next check if there is 120VAC to the start devise between two wires going to it. If there is proper voltage - replace the start devise Part number: WR07X10097

See if it appears the fan in the freezer is running slowly too. If so you can be sure the board is bad. If the freezer fan is running fine check voltage to the condenser fan as well as fan motor supply voltage. If the fan is getting correct voltage but running slow as you describe replace the fan but if the fan isn’t getting correct voltage replace the main board. This page has instructions and pictures that should help with this. GE Refrigerator Fan Motor Diagnostics

Replaced compressor relay. Voltage to compressor fan is 14. Have ordered new fan motor. While waiting for motor I have placed small fan to blow on compressor and coils. Refrigerator and freezer are cooling like they should. Great suggestions and directions. Thanks.

Hi.
Make sure the condenser coils are clean and the cover is in it's place.

Have received new condenser fan motor. It runs slower than old motor. Rechecked the voltage and get 13.6v for both the supply and fan tests. New motor will not turn when held with the fan facing the coils but will slowly turn when held with fan facing up or down. Strange! Any suggestions.

Hi.
You should replace the main control board together with the motor and BTW get another condenser motor.
Simon.

Have returned motor for replacement and have received new m-board. Will wait to check new motor before trying to replace board. Thanks for reply.

New board and compressor fan installed & all seems to be running fine. Is there any thing that can be done with used main board and/or old fan motor?
