Icemaker was smoking and smelled like something burning, removed icemaker and have new one in hand but wondering if I should check electrical connection before installation or do the install and hope for the best.

Gene, Took the old icemaker apart and the motor has a bad burnt odor. New icemaker by whirlpool 4317943 looks identical has flat plug.

You probably can use another, made by Whirlpool, ice maker which will save you some $$$. The only thing about that ice maker is: it comes without the head cove and the shut off arm. You will nedd to use them from the old ice maker. - The ice maker Part number: W10190965
