My washing machine has started overfilling and will not begin the wash cycle. Any ideas what may be causing this? In order to drain the machine, I put it in the spin cycle. When I opened the top to check on the progress, the tub stopped spinning but made a screeching noise when it came to a stop. Not sure if this is normal or not, or if the two problems are related at all. Any help would be appreciated. The tub has a lot of "play" in it (moves from side to side very easily).

Open the control panel and check for a loose pressure (clear plastic) hose which should be connected to the water level switch.

If the pressure hose is in place then the water level switch has to be replaced.

Some noise at the stop time is normal. It's coming from the breaks.

- The part number for the water level switch is AP246906

OK, I bought the AP246906 water switch. But is has different labeling on the wire connectors than the original one on the washer.

Original one has three connections numbered 11,14 and 12. Orange wire attached to #12, blue wire attached to #14 and gray wire attached to #11.

This new switch has three connectors as well, but they are numbered 1, 2 and 3. How do I know what color wire goes to what number?
