6 year old kenmore dryer is not heating. is it the heating element or should i check other things before ordering a new heating element?

First thing I would check is the voltage to the dryer.
How do I check the voltage to my electric dryer?

If the voltage is correct then it could be a high limit thermostat that is bad or of coarse the heating element. Both could be check for continuity with a multimeter.
