Noises and odors are just plain difficult to provide satisfactory diagnosis to on this forum (if you look at the postings you see mechanical and electrical problems are answered more quickly, because I (we) feel comfortable in doing so, while odors and noises are more difficult.)
Since you did not post a model number, it is difficult to say which part of the cabinet you should remove to try and detect the source of the odor, but you need to look inside to see if something has fallen or dripped onto a hot surface. You may also have a motor that is failing.
Sorry I could not be more specific, but if you want more guidance please post the model number and any other info you think would be helpful.
