ice maker makes hollow cubes and also the water will over fill and drips into the ice cubes holder and freezes solid:cool:

Hollow ice us usually caused by not enough water caused by low water pressure or a stopped up supply line coming into the water inlet valve screen filter.
Water dripping into the ice bin is caused by a partial blockage of the fill tube, diverting the water from the ice mold. If yours is overflowing it may be the ice maker. Some have an adjustment behind the plastic end cover on the ice maker.
