Our freezer's seal we can see when the outside of the freezer is shut. The seal isn't working properly. I think this may be the problem with the other things going on but i was not sure. About a month ago, the ice maker stopped working and everything in the refrigerator (which has a bad seal, but not as severe) and freezer was not at proper temperature, warmer...still cold but in freezer, not cold enough, things were starting to defrost. The other sympton was that frost was building up on the back panel.
I read on the internet that it was a good chance that the fan is not working trying to get the area defrosted on the back making it warmer than should be.
Our solution to the problem was then to defrost the frigerator, and freezer for a day. This worked! the ice maker started to work again and the temps were great. Of course this was a delay in solution because the seal is still broken. So now I am noticing the ice maker is still working, but ice cream is soft. Hasn't hit the frigerator temperature yet.
Is this the seal not working, letting the defrost build up and then the fan not work properly, or overtime trying to defrost, or am i looking at the wrong part?
I don't want to spendmoney on the wrong part and if what we need is really a new refrigerator wasting the money. please help!
Thanks, Jamie
Is this is a technician from the company addressing this issue???

Hi Jamie, Remove the cover on the back of the fridge and clean the condenser coil. Make sure the fan motor next to the compressor does run. Frost built up on the back panel in the freezer means there is a problem with the defrost system. You can use the troubleshooting instructions from one of our previous posts: http://forum.appliancepartspros...frigerator-too-warm.html. Here are the break down diagrams and parts list for the Whirlpool refrigerator Model GB22DKXJW01Gene.
