The whole unit has stopped working. Lights are still on but that's it. Not sure if it's worth fixing. Unit is in great shape for age. Any ideas?

Here are your parts Replacement parts for MAYTAG MSD2757AEW REF - SXS/I&W | AppliancePartsPros.comCannot say if it is worth repairing it depends what is wrong with it. Here is a service manual which covers this unit. 16010154 Maytag Refrigerator Service Manual - ApplianceDigest.comYou have to join the site to download the manual but it is free and this is a very good site for manuals and other info for the appliance repair DIYer. Could be you are stuck in a defrost cycle. Unplug it for 5 minutes or so to see if it will reset. Could be the temperature control is not closing. Turn it back and forth a few times to see if it will close. If that does nothing. Unplug the unit and short the two wires to the control thermostat together. Make sure they cannot short to anything else. Plug the unit in, if it fires up you know that the thermostat is shot. |
