Icemaker recently quit making ice. I removed the ice maker and noticed something rattling inside. I took the the case off of the module and realized one of the plastic pieces that keeps the gears meshed had broken. The gear had backed away from the shaft and was no longer making the electrical contacts. I believe the part number for this whole unit is 219857. My question is: Do these break or is it likely that I broke it screwing around with it? Thanks. -Chris

no, they do break, but it is a possibilty that the heater is not working on the icemaker, and the motor struggled to knock it out. it would be better to replace the whole icemaker for good measure. tom applianceeducator.com - parts
