Just purchased a used refrigerator for our work shop. The freezer gets cool, the refrigerator stays warm. We just plugged it up, so it has only been running for 18 hours. Pulled the cover out of the freezer compartment, the fan does not run at all. The coils are showing some frost at each end, the cover panels for the back was icing before being removed. Where do I start. I have very little experience with appliances, but I can follow instructions and I have a good tool selection.

Mitch,

Do you have a clamp on ammeter , wattage meter or VOM multi meter as well?

When you picked the fridge up , did you transport it in an upright position, or did you lay it down?

Right now it sounds pretty bad,

Restricted sealed system
Defrost problem
and hopefully, a bad evaporator fan, not a broken wire.

Hope to hear from you soon,
