Went to start dryer, Set timer, then went to hit start button. No clicking noise like usual. Lately I needed to hold the start button for a brief time to start the dryer. The door switch seems to be functioning. Any suggestions? Thanks

No humming noise. I have replaced the starter switch and thermal fuse. Now the starter switch makes a click sound when I press it in, but still nothing. I don't know how old this dryer is and I have already spend $45 on parts. I don't want to dump money into a this dryer if it is a loosing battle. Thanks Nancy

Hi Nancy, Most likely the problem is a bad motor. You have to remove the bottom panel and the idler pulley. Turn the motor pulley to see how free it's rotating. Then you have to check the motor windings for continuity according to the wiring diagram. Post the results. Here are the break down diagrams for the Whirlpool dryer Model LGR7646DQ0Gene.
