It's 3 years old. The unit will NOT start. Start/Cancel does not work, won't even light up. Heated Dry does not work, won't light up. Some buttons like Delay, Rinse etc. light up for a minute or so but nothing happens. Lights just go off. Tried cutting off power at breaker. It did not help. In last few months we had this problem intermittantly but eventually the unit would start, but not this time. Is the problem with the Control Panel or Control Board or some other? How do I diagnose where exactly the problem or what part needs replacing? PLEASE HELP. Thanks. hmanka@yahoo.com

Part number: AP4365164
Your technical data sheet is located on the back side of the lower kick plate, on the front of the unit. You will be able to test each pad with a meter,if you have one. Something you may want to try, Access the control board, by removing the inner door liner and interior cover. Disconnect the touchpad ribbon, from the board. and clean the pins(end of ribbon)with rubbing alcohol , also clean the connector on the board using the same procedure. Put a thin coat of vaseline or di electric grease on the ribbon connections(to keep moisture out ). I'm sure you'll be able to diagnose your problem with the tech sheet and doing the process, first. :) :) :)

Thanks Joe, for your prompt and clear response. I will try to do as per your instructions and let you know.
I checked the touchpad tail that goes into board connector. Think it has 20 conductors spaced very close to each other. The touchpad has 10 buttons and 19 LEDs. How do I know which conductors are for which button to check with multimeter? Thanks.

:D :D :D Hi Joe / APP Team, I opened the inside cover and the board box cover. Visually inspected the board, it looked fine. Pulled the touchpad tail out (not realizing I was supposed to slide the plastic cover out), then cleaned it. Put it all back and nothing happened. HOWEVER few hours afterwards, the dishwasher went on and went through the wash and dry cycles. I am not saying problem fixed yet but looks like at least control board is fine, probably panel is fine too. Will run the dishwasher for few days before declaring "mission accomplished". lol . Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your help. You're welcome, I didn't even consider a bad control board . I thought you had a bad touchpad assembly from the start, based on your description. Sometimes cleaning the ribbon and reconnection, sealing will get and keep the machine going. If or when your problem returns, order the control panel assembly, Part number: AP4365164
(and follow the same procedure, clean connectors, coat with lubricant to seal out moisture) Good Luck, :) :) :)
