Ok...So...I need help. I have no clue as to what I'm doing and very little money to fix my dryer. It is a gas dryer and the air turns on, but I have no heat. Could someone please help a clueless person?

Rue,
For starters do you have or have access to an ohm meter?

It can test for electrical current and continuity. It's a meter, a cheap one from the local hardware store will work. (usually around $10).

Well hey, I learned something new. Hurray for that! :) OKay, once I get this ohm meter, what do I do with it, and is it really necessary?

Yes, you need it to test with.
We will start with the basics..... unplug the dryer and make sure you have 120 V of power to that outlet. If so then remove the rear panel on the dryer and do the following

Check ignitor continuity.
Check for gas supply.
Check flame switch continuity, (0 ohms
when cold).
Check gas valves for continuity.
Check thermostat for continuity.
Check for continuity.
Manually close centrifugal switch contacts,

check for continuity, (1M-2M ohms).

Oh boy,
I hope you have a lot of patience, because I understood maybe a quarter of what you just said. That being said, it's going to take me until the weekend to get the ohm meter. Hopefully you'll be on then. I do thank you for your quick response.

I'm sure we can get your dryer tested, not only do I have 3 teens, but I'm a mom that deals with broken appliances everyday, and home school one of the teens with that has ADHD so....not worried about my patients being tested.
