I have this little compact belt drive unit in pieces, but I can't get the drum off of the tube that connects to the transmission. I have have backed the bolt for the tension block off but the drum still will not release. I must say that I beaten the darn thing to the point that I'm afraid I'll do more damage. All this for a leaking seal.

Hi Grump,

Unfortunately I'm not very familiar with this model and have never replaced the tub seal on it. Maybe somebody else on the forum can help you better.

I usually loosen the drive block nut that holds the spin basket, pound down on the nut and pull up one side of the spin basket to break it free. You should use the special Whirlpool spanner wrench to do loosen the nut.

Hi all....Sorry, but this thing has a tension block that should lock the transmission tube to the casting that's bolted to the bottom of the drum. Boy, it sure does that! The block is loose, and I've tried solvents and a 24 oz. framing hammer on the %^*& thing to no avail. There is no nut on that casting to loosen, just the block, that is loose. If I tried heat, do you think it would work? I'd screw up the seal in the top of the casting.
