dishwasher will run water but wont kick into wash cycle if you push cancel button it will drain water. i would appreciate any help on this matter

Apparently your drain pump is functioning. Are there any blinking lights on your control panel ? indicating a failure. When the control is in the wash mode is there any motor noise at all from the bottom of the unit. If there is no noise at all from the wash motor,after it fills and should be washing, I would have to suspect the motor itself or the control board in the console or broken/loose wires between the 2 components.
