Our over the range microwave worked fine this morning, but this evening it has no signs of life.

Last thing made in it was probably a cup of cocoa. Three minutes to warm up the milk.

This past weekend it did feel super hot inside, even when it had not been used for quite a long time, possibly hours. We thought maybe it was from having the light on underneath, but were not sure. The next day it was fine and has been fine for days. Until today.

We checked to make sure it wasn't lack of electric to the plug.

I'm not sure what to do?

I watched a couple of videos on YouTube but do not know if it's a thermal fuse or a thermostat (am trying to find out if these two are the same thing?) or something else completely.

It could be a lot of things, Bad electrical connection inside the MW. A bad line fuse, a bad thermal fuse, a bad transformer on the board, or even a blown cavity fuse if it has one.

This board has the power fuses on it.

This shows all the parts inside the MW.

Thermal cutout on the magnetron.

This might be in circuit too. I don't have the wiring diagram so I can't tell.

Just to add my 2 cents...

1. Keeping the surface lights on for a long time will definitely heat up the microwave interior. It's not recommended by the manufacturer.

2. The first thing you may want to check is the line fuse. The fuse is located on a receptacle near the top of the noise filter board and is common to all functions and door switches.
To remove the fuse:
1. Disconnect power to the microwave oven.
2. Remove grille assembly.
3. Remove control panel vent plate.
4. Remove the control panel assembly.
5. Remove the fuse. (The lower one.)
6. Using a multimeter check the fuse for continuity.

The fuse Part number: AP2631556
