Ice maker not making cubes,I put in a new filter when the problem first happened and that solved the problem, but about 1 month later no ice at all.

Is the fill valve cycling on to allow it to fill the ice maker? Sometimes the tube leading into the ice maker mold where the water comes in will develope an ice blockage which prevents the mold from filling. Is the ice maker cycling through it's normal cycles, bale arm raising and lowering?

Just get to where you can see the tube leading into the ice maker and see if it is blocked with ice. There may be problems inside the ice maker if the water fill valve is cycling when the tray empties.

I checked and did not notice it cycling,so I removed the unit and noticed ice cubes in the unit but were not ejected,by there being ice in the unit I would say there is no ice blockage.

Yes as long as there is no ice visible where it comes in. The next thing I would think would be the thermostat inside the ice maker. Many times, it is more cost effective to replace the entire ice maker than to replace parts inside it. I would check prices on a replacement unit as well.
