The unit stopped working after filling. Timer appears to have plastic dust and does not feel like it is turning and clicking as usual. I am having trouble accessing removing ends on upright panel. I know that I need to unscrew the upright after removing the ends.

You don't need to remove the ends of the panel to open it. There are two spring clips under the panel, one at each end. Use a putty knife and slide under the clips to release them and then rotate the panel back. Problem is likely the lid switch. Check for loose screws on the left side lid hinge. This hinge activates the hidden lid switch. Lid must be closed for washer motor and timer to operate.
