my dryer timer will rotate and count down up to the point of tripping the machine to stop. if I bang on the top it then will trip. my wife said she put a load in for 30 min checked on it and timer was "almost at zero" rechecked after 90 min it still was running so she stopped the load all was bone dry.

is it the timer or the resistor or both?

thanks for any help

If the timer advances normally during auto dry cycle, then the resistor is ok and you would need to replace the timer.

when you say auto dry do you mean the one where I choose more/less dry . we never use that cycle we always use time dry.

I pulled the resistor it ohms at 4650 is that what it should be?

Yes, the more/less dry area of the timer is auto dry and yes, that is a normal reading on the resistor.
