We have an Amana ARB2517csl bottom mount freezer refer. this morning it was making a cliciking sound trying to start the compressor. I tested the compressor with a VOM, no shorts to ground. We emptied the unit and it sat tfor 5-6 hours. I turned power back on and the compressor started normally- no clicking sounds. My question is 1. is the defrost timer electrically powered or did it complete its cycle without power and allow the start relay to function normally and 2. where is the timer located on this unit? Thanks for any suggestions.

You have a hard starting compressor that fails to start during low, line voltage periods.

Good possibility, I live in a rural area, at the end of the power line and lots of irrigation wells upstream from me. Thanks for the suggestion.
