Kind of out of the blue my washer stopped spinning and agitating. I'm not sure what the problem is.

About a year ago I replaced the lid switch. About 6 months ago I had to reset the motor. Other than that it's worked just fine.

I took the front panel off and everything looks ok. The motor looks fine and the belt is in good shape.

When I turn on the washer it fills and goes through all of the cycles just like normal. It just doesn't spin or agitate. I'm at my wits end.

Can anybody help?

There is no reset for the motor on this washer. Does the motor make any noise at all while in agitate or spin? If totally quiet, check the lid switch. If the lid switch is bad, the motor won't work. To check lid switch, open control panel and unplug the 10 pin plug from the control board and check continuity between the orange and yellow/red wires. Should be 0 ohms with lid closed. If lid switch checks out ok, retrieve the tech sheet from inside control panel. It will tell you how to get into service mode to check for control board error codes.

I used this method to reset the motor.

The lid switch is brand new. I'll check it again though.

There is no noise during the spin or agitate cycle.

Where do I find the control panel and how do I check the continuity?

That reset procedure is for a hydrowave washer, yours is not one of those. I think you should probably call a tech if you don't know how to use a multimeter.

Ok, so the lid switch is fine.

I was able to locate the control panel and get it into test mode. To tell the truth i'm not entirely sure if I was getting an error code or not. The directions and chart were nearly impossible to read.

I'm wondering if there is a clearer version on line.

What other things should I test? Like KerriH I too want to fix this myself.

After you enter service mode, all status indicators should be lit. Now rotate the cycle knob two clicks to the right. If all indicators go out, there are no errors. If any of them are on, which ones are they?

12 min and rinse are on. Counting from left to right that's #4 & #7.

That's a no fill error and thermistor error. If the washer takes a long time to fill it will give the no fill error. The thermistor is a temperature sensor on the water inlet valve that is used by the control board to cycle the hot/cold valves on/off for proper overall temperature of the water in the tub. These errors should not stop the washer from working. Clear the errors by pressing the start button while in service mode error code check. Then unplug the washer for 2 minutes and plug back in to reset the control board.

Do you know how to use your multimeter to make continuity checks and live line voltage checks? If not, call a tech or parts swap til you get it fixed. If the lid switch is good, the motor makes no noise when in agitate or spin, you could have a bad control board, motor, or wiring issue. You either troubleshoot with meter and wiring diagram or parts swap.
