Hi,

My fridge freezes food. I checked the coils. I checked the damper. It's also OK.

I was told to ask if it could be the Electronic Control. That possibly that needs to be replaced?

I have the setting on the temp control set to the warmest setting and the food still freezes. I have a mercury thermometer in her so that I can monitor the fridge temp and it was always running cooler but 2 days ago it started running much colder and freezing lettuce, the milk, everything,..

Thanks!

Frederic

Sorry made a typo.

The fridge is running 'too' cold:)

Also could it be the control board assembly?

I may just order both: the electronic control & the control board assembly. Apparently they are different parts

Thanks again

Here are your parts
Parts for Whirlpool KSRA22ILSS02 Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.com

See the attachment for the tech sheet

I only see one main control board.

Try running the diagnostics in the tech sheet.

What is the freezer temperature?
It should be 0 to 5 degrees F.

Hi,

I did the diagnostic test as you suggested.

I'm not sure if I did it properly. I followed the instructions ( press the control on button and the water filter reset simultaneously for 3 sec.)

What the readings after the test: freezer =5 Fridge=1

Let me know what I should try next

Thanks,

Frederic

Freezer is set at 5F and the fridge @37F

The settings don't seem to make much difference though as it usually stays in the zone and then it goes haywire after while. It can maintain the temperature range for couple days and then after a while it freezes food like crazy!

Sounds like a control board problem.
Especially if unplugging it for a couple minutes gets it running correctly again (resetting the control board).

OK thanks.

I'll order a new board. Is that something I can do myself? I'm pretty handy, but just checking to see what your thoughts are.

Thanks!

Yes you should be able to do it.

Just be sure to unplug the unit first.
You would be surprised at how many people forget to do this.

Also if your house has a lot of carpeting or you get static shocks fairly often ground yourself before stating. Probably the easiest is to grab one of the pipes under the sink if you have copper plumbing Only need to touch it for about 5 seconds.

Hi Denman,

I replaced the part and the fridge temp would not go down. My wife is giving me a hard time about all the food going bad & my son's frozen yougurt sticks have all melted and he's mad too. I put the old board back in to see if it would bring the temp down. I'm waiting to see.
A bit discouraged, as I spent $197 on the part with no resolution.
