Hello,I have a kenmore side by side.Problem is I have the temp control know set to between 0 and 1 on both fridge and freezer and still temp in freezer is -2 fridge is 38-40... These temps are fine but temp shouldnt be this cold on the warmest setting. We used to have them both set at 5 but started getting frozen liquids in fridge and had to back it down to where it is now.Somethings def wrong and im sure one day will be completely broke but im not sure where to start.Ive done some reading and it appears this may be the part I need but im not sure and dont want to pay 200 on something ai dont need. Its called a Control box part number 5304482075.Ive cleaned the condensor fins as well with no change. There is nothing stopping flow of air in either compartments. And yes im turning the temp control knobs the correct way.I will get our model number if needed,im away from home now. Thanks for any help..

Hello,

The problem with your refrigerator can be a bad damper control which controls the air flow from the freezer into the refrigerator, a bad Adaptive Defrost Control board or a bad refrigerator cold control. The part number for the control box assembly you posted is not good with your model number.

Using an inspection mirror, look in the air outlet grill at the back of the control housing in the ff compartment. See if the damper door is open or closed. It should be wide open or completely closed. If the door is partially closed, replace the damper control.

If the damper door has no ice or obstructions holding it open, drop the front of the control housing by removing the front and one side screw. This will allow the control panel to drop down and hang on the one rear screw and the wiring harness.

If the damper door is open, carefully remove one of the wires from the refrigerator cold control. This will have the ADC to switch 115 VAC from the purple white wire on #3 contact to the pink wire on the #8 contact and the damper door will close.

If it will not close, replace the ADC board.

If it will close, replace the refrigerator cold control.

- The damper control Part number: 241600902
Part number: 241600902

- The ADC board kit Part number: 5303918476
Part number: 5303918476

- The refrigerator cold control Part number: 241586503
Part number: 241586503

Thank you for your help.I do know that the damper control does open and close completely by hearing it and feeling or not feeling cold air coming into the ff compartment.Over the last few days ive been monitoring the freezer temp.It will go from -5 to 5 above and then plummet to -15 or -20 and stay there. Then I force a defrost by pushing the ff light on and off six times and then after it defrosts it goes back to -5 or 5 above for a few hours and the cycle repeats.ff temp seems to stay contant around 35-40.Based on that info do you lean toward the cold control? Is the cold control located inside the control panel?Your help is greatly appreciated.

I'm a bit confused because this description is different with what you posted couple days ago.

Do you have any food in the freezer?

Yes but there is plenty of airflow all around .. The temp changes dramatically in freezer without touching the thermostat in freezer..Temp seems to stay around 35-40 in fridge.. I didnt have a temp probe in freezer 24/7 for my first post, now I do.. But no matter what the freezer stat is set at it doesnt seem to change temp..No matter how warm I set the freezer thermastat I never hear or feel it click off... The cold air just continues to pour into freezer..

I don't think it is possible.

You have nothing to lose if you'll order the part from APP because you can return it if it would not fix the problem.
