My refrigerator has the same symptom the 2nd time since I bought it in 2007. The freezer temperature was about 4 or 5 degrees and the refrigerator side temp was above 50 and could never go any lower even it is set at 37 degree. The very top compartment and the 3rd compartment from the bottom froze up food. The first time was the big fan in the Cover Evaporator ASM (part # WR17X11915) did not work, I replaced the the whole kit and it worked great ever since.
The similar problem happened at this time so I took the Cover Evaporator ASM and check both fans in this kit, they worked just fine with a 12VDC external power supply. Then I checked both cable connectors which are connected to the big fan and the small motor fan. I had 12-13 Vdc at the connector for the big fan and only had about 2Vdc for the small motor fan. I am not sure if the 12 Vdc for both fans coming from the same source which is the main control board WR49X10147. I tried to check J3 pin 1 and 2, J3 pin 3 and 4 to look for the 12 VDC but I did not get any and I didn't think I probed at the correct cables at the control board for. Please let me know if the problem is from the main control board or should I check the thermostat first.
Thank you,

Hello Phung Luong,

There is only one evaporator fan motor in the refrigerator which comes as a part of the evaporator cover. You probably call it "big fan". The fan you called "small fan" is probably belongs to the Custom cool part of the refrigerator. This fan activates only when you use the Custom cool.

If you would like to verify power to the evaporator fan motor, you can do it by measuring the DC voltage between the pins J2-6 and J2-8 at the main control board. Post the results.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Parts for GE PSS26PSTASS Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.com

Hi Gene,
Thank you for your reply. I checked the control board at between J2 pin 6 and J2 pin 8 I had about 9VDC. I also checked all the thermistors at connector J1 from pin1 and gnd at pin5=20.2K Ohms, J1 pin2 to J1 pin5=14.7K Ohms,J1 pin3 to J1 pin5=15.7K Ohms, J1 pin 4 to J1 pin5=16.15K Ohms. The motor fan worked outside the frig when I plug it in the 12VDC power supply. Please let me know what elsi I should check.

The voltage test result points to a bad main control board.

To test the thermistors it is very important to measure the exact temperatures at the same time.
