I just replaced the starter relay on my Whirlpool Refrigerator model # ED5NTGXLT00. I have the temperature control for the freezer set halfway between C and Colder and the freezer temperature is around -3 degrees. I first set the refrigerator temperature to the "mid" setting which is 3 and now I have it set between 4 and coldest and the inside temperature will not go below 42 degrees. I put my hand on the compressor and it was so hot to the touch I couldn,t keep my hand on it for over about 3 seconds and I have pretty rough hands from fishing. Any suggestions?

Hi.

Check if the condenser fan motor is running normal and if the condenser coils are clean.Did you put the rear cover back after you replaced the starter relay?

You may have the problem with the air flow from the freezer to the fresh food.
Adjust the air flow from the freezer to max and see if that make any difference.

Simon.
