Washer runs fine until it gets to the "Drain/Spin" point on the timer. It will drain, but not spin. I you manually move dial ahead, it will spin and finish the cycle. It does this on all three loan types; dark colors, casuals, etc. Bad timer, valve, control board? Thanks for your help.

Hi.

Based on the info you provided it's a bad timer Part number: WH12X10478
Part number: WH12X10478

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Controls & Backsplash parts for GE GHWP1000M0WW - AppliancePartsPros.com

Post the results.

I purchased and installed the timer, however it did not solve the problem. When the washer gets to the Drain/Spin cycle, it drains the water but does not proceed into the final spin dry cycle.

So, your saying that after agitate, it drains and the timer no longer advances on it's own? It will just sit there and run the drain pump without the timer advancing any further until you advance it manually?

That is correct. It pumps the water out, then it seems to just keep on pumping even though there is no water to pump. I think it is shutting down due to the pump getting hot. If I push the timer knob in (shutting it off) then move the timer ahead just slightly and pulling the know out, it will start spinning and complete the cycle. It does this with all load types; whites, casual, delicate, etc.

Can't find much tech info on this machine. There is no electronic control board in this unit behind the control panel, correct? There should be a tech sheet behind the control panel. Can you copy it or take a clear picture of it and post it?

That is correct, there is no electronic control board. Here is a copy of the only information I found behind the control panel.

I don't see a copy or link to it. Anyway, it seems that the timer motor is losing power when it goes from agitate to drain. In the typical non-electronic GE washer, power to the timer motor is through the water level switch which starts agitation and timer rotation. During drain and spin, timer motor power is through the water level bypass contacts in the timer. The problem your having is pointing to a timer problem but you have already replaced it. Need to see the wiring diagram for your washer but can't find it.

I have since found out that this washer has an "energy saving rinse" as do most of GE's newer models. This works by NOT spinning after the first drain. It pumps the water out after agitate but just leaves the clothes wet and doesn't spin. Then it fills with about 11 gallons of water regardless of the load size setting, agitates a little, drains and then spins. So only one final spin after the rinse cycle.

You did say the timer doesn't advance on it's own so you still have a problem if that is the case.

Not sure why the photo didn't attach. I'll try again.

Too blurry, can't read timer chart or schematic. Need clear close-up of each.
