i have a upright freezer; not sure of model; not where i can look right now; this freezer works great untill i have power outtage; even the shortest flicker will cause it to quit working; then i unplug to reset and it is fine untill i have another outtage then i have to reset again; been doing this for about 2 years and no problems; but my son now lives in the house where it's at and i'm afraid he will forget to reset it and lose everything. Just wondering if there is a fix for it and if so; is it worth the trouble; any and all info greatly appreachated.

If this is an inexpensive freezer with no self defrost, it's possible the cold control is defective and will not auto-turn on once power is restored. If an expensive one with a defrost control, check for a service sheet behind the front kick panel. Will give diagnostics for this problem.

This is difficult to give a fix, a model number may help. Post it if you can get it. Find your model number - AppliancePartsPros.comEven with the number it probably will just be a guess. richappy: Have you ever seen this problem? Seems to me very weird as a power outage would be the same as unplugging the unit which he has to do to get it to work. Perhaps the best solution is to get a freezer alarm, just Google it. It would give an alarm if the temperature gets too warm. Problem is that it is useless unless you are at home. |

I have seen burnt connections that re-connect when power is removed, then turned on. Have seen cold controls do this also.

I might add that if the power outtage is for more than 30 min. it might would start back ok; never tried it; but with a very short outtage it takes unpluging to get back started; like it has to reset or something.

Here are your parts Parts for Kenmore Freezer 25326452100 - AppliancePartsPros.comYou are probably correct in saying that the control board is resetting when you unplug it. You could try replacing the control but it is a gamble whether it will fix anything. Check to be sure that the ground from the line cord is attached to the units frame. |
