I have an 8-10 year old Maytag washer that isn't washing as good as it use to. I took a look and see that the agitator is no longer seated in place. The agitator just rises up as the load continues. I haven't replaced anything yet. I have attached some pictures and cannot locate the serial or model #. Looking to find out if its the agitaor or some other issue.

Here are your parts
Replacement parts for MAYTAG PAV3360AWW WASHER-TOP LOADING | AppliancePartsPros.com

I believe that the bolt Item 4 in Section 9 should hold it down.

I took a closer look and the bolt is still intact. It appears as if the middle and upper assembly has come loose off the base. I can put the middle/upper assembly onto the base but it is not snug and will rise and not agitate the way it's suppose to. I'd like to order what I need today or Sunday along with a dryer order.

So do I need the base as well as the middle?

Take a look in the parts Item 1 in section 9.
Click on the picture and a new page will open with more views and a Q&A section.

I would replace both.
Also if the bolt is rusted replace it.
