Hi Gene, thank you. Should I purchase an entire unit for the small difference? I would think so...thanks again.

Gene, I have been reading these boards looking for advice. You seem extremely knowledgable with regards to ice makers. I was hoping you might have some advice for my situation. I posted a thread about it but have not received any replies. Thanks in advance. http://forum.appliancepartspros...2-samsung-ice-maker.html

Hi Gene, I replaced the optic boards as you told me and I am getting ice but the red let is blinking twice and it stays red when I hold the flap on the left down. Could the red light be there because I need to replace the filter or for some other reason? thanks for all your help!

The LED is blinking when the optical beam is blocked. If it happens while the emitter door is open then it's normal.

Hi Gene, my question was as to the color. Why is it red? I remember that it used to be green when it worked properly in the past. Thank you again.

Actually it's more orange than red. I don't remember this light to be green.
The water filter status light is located at the top of the refrigerator compartment.

Remove the ice maker harness from the ice maker and check the black wire for continuity. If there is no continuity, replace the whole ice maker. - The ice maker Part number: AP3182733
