My dryer was taking a long time to dry. It has now quit heating up. It still tumbles and sounds fine just no heat. Should I replace the heating element? Amana Electric Dryer.

Only replace it if it is blown!!!
There are a number of things that can cause no heat.
The symptom that it was taking longer to dry would lead me to believe that your vent system was dirty/partially clogged reducing the air flow. It finally got to the point that the dryer overheated and blew the thermal fuse. |

That's a very common problem here in the Houston, TX area. If you're not familiar with it: The home builders commonly vent the dryers here through the roof. After about a year, the dryers start taking longer and longer to heat up. This is very frustrating, even though a good source of constant income for us techs.
